Meet Dr. Spyridon Hasiakos, DDS, PhD
Endodontist
As the first scholar selected for UCLA’s NIH-funded Dental Specialty PhD Program (DSPP), Dr. Hasiakos helped pioneer the program’s mission to develop dually trained clinician-scientists. He completed a PhD in Oral Biology, focusing on the role of the immune system in chronic inflammatory diseases. His research has been supported by multiple awards, including the NIH Loan Repayment Program Award, the UCLA Knaub Fellowship, and an NIH K08 career development grant. A published researcher in leading scientific journals, he has contributed to discoveries in basic science with translational potential for patient care.
Dr. Hasiakos is actively involved in the specialty as a member of the American Dental Association and the American Association of Endodontists, and he is pursuing board certification through the American Board of Endodontics.
Outside of dentistry, he enjoys traveling, photography, and music, and finds balance through time spent with family and friends in his hometown of Chicago.
